In the Steel Mine, I stopped to heal & save about every other mob. Used that Paladin stance to quickly regen Magicka, then heal, heal with lvl II self heal which almost fills me up. Wait for Magicka to regen again (or drink one of my many self-made potions) and flip to other stance that gives me defence. (armor? forget...I'm on my laptop now). Walk ahead & repeat after next fight or two. Took most of evening to clear.

Finding the lost daughter did give me a scare. Well done devs!!! She called for me to follow her, I was across the bridge (far away) & above her a horde of baddies emerge. H-e-l-p! Forget about rescuing her, I'll never save myself! Great fun.

What & where is this vault you both are playing? I suppose I ought to revisit Erothin. With my sluggish framerates I'd been avoiding the place, haven't discovered half of it yet...a harbor?  Did either of you find the archeology quest? Poster on wall, old guy in house. Or is that the vault quest? (see? recognize the symptoms of creeping mind loss? [Image Can Not Be Found])

Yapette, I have the key from the guy in the horned helmet. Is it much further to the exit? I keep getting contaminated by those creatures and I don't want to use up my mangrove roots. I didn't understand the stance thing but it sounds like I should try it. I spend a lot of time healing and waiting for the magika to refill.

The lost daughter was fun and this quest is interesting too. Do you have a quest on your list from a letter that talks about the vault? It placed a marker for me. It is just off the road north of Sildren. Not a big dungeon.

If you want to get to the Erothin harbor quickly, just swim around to it. I don't have the old guy in the house quest. I'll have to check it out.

The exit is past the Boss but you must tromp all the way back thru mines to woods by foot. Maybe you can teleport but I haven't been.

The key only unlocks the opposite side gates to go down further, I think.

About infections, I had a potion that was 12% resist against poison. Then I jumped over green poison puddles. Still got lower health but not enough to die. Two blasts of fireball + my (self) enchanted Boss Bandit's sword killed the zombies/etc before they got whacking me (most of the time). The enchant is shock so maybe they're also stunned for a millisecond.

The stances…after choosing our class, we got 3-4 unique spells. I know as I tried out both mage & paladin. They are listed at the very top of your spell list. Each stance has a positive & negative effect. Not sure it they cost mana to cast as I always seen to be able (to). The mega-spell insta-heals but takes ALL your mana for a couple of secs & uses up a stone? rune? (my mind has *really* collapsed!) Haven't done that one yet as I'd feel too vulnerable without any mana.

Doing insta-heal –> regen stance is a great combo but I"m too cheap to spend a stone. And spell chains like this (plus weap swapping, pots, dam spells) take so many more quick slots than the inadequate 8 we have. I installed a mod to expand quick slots but in the middle of battle, don't think I have the wits to hit L-alt + hotkey + c or F or Rt M (my cast) or ….

Yes, I did pick up the adventurer's dropped letter. Place W (or E) of Sildren. Was leaving it for later as it sounded too hard. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Still battling the Master Smith at the end of the mine. Is that shock he is using? I made some 12% shock resist. Nice how we can do it on the fly. I got close once, but he is tough to bring down. [Image Can Not Be Found]

One thing I do now to heal is to drink a single home brewed Restore Magicka. Then I spam Flash Heal till my health bar is full up. The Magicka keeps filling up for several seconds after I drink it. It's much faster than waiting. I keep all the health and magicka potions I make for emergencies and sell most everything else.

Thanks for the reminder about the stances, Yapette. I keep forgetting about them. I haven't used the full health restore because of the cost of a gem. I imagine later in the game I'll have enough money so that I can start using teleport and full heal.

It seems like I'm seeing a lot of slow down in the last few days. Of course I have my video settings pretty high and am also using AA and HDR settings. Maybe I'll turn them off tonight and see if I get enough performance improvement to make a difference. I love the look I have right now but it really bogs down in the forest a lot. I'm running with the distance draw turned down or off, don't remember, but it's annoying watching everything suddenly pop into existance 200 hundred yards out. I need to play with my setting some.

I finally got The Master Smith using a bunch of potions. I used the key on a door near him and it was only a short walk out of the mine.

Yapette, were you able to stop the messenger with the weapon? I was busy selling and the quest ended. I was surprised but I could go back to an earlier save and try to stop him. If it is just more men in the mine, that might be useful.

My game is still running smoothly. Back in Giliad and still no freeze or crash.

Pokey, I do remember the quest said to "hurry" about catching the messenger. But we both know, many games tell us to hurry when we really have all the time in the world.

So in this case, we don't. [Image Can Not Be Found] I had only just exited the mine, entered the shack outside & my computer screen locked when I shot two fireballs at the spider within. Gave up for the evening.

Now, I must run outa the door & find the messenger instead? Without shooting fireballs yet still remain alive? Any clue where the messenger might be? Like it couldn't be so simple as having a green arrow on the map, could it? Unless the messenger is wearing a spider suit. [Image Can Not Be Found]

I'm going in now & look, will report back in minutes….

I checked my save when I exited the mine and he is just north of Giliad, so it shouldn't take long to reach him. I'm going to try from that save and see if it is worth it. I didn't dream we would have to hurry that much.

That guy is really moving! I tracked him for a while and then saw a flaming figure and attcked it and died very quickly. Not sure if it was the right one. Will try again.

Edit…the next time I saw him, he is not the flaming one, he was on the road heading toward me, but he killed me. Later, he was at the painted stones. Watch out for the bridge!

Now to sell all my stuff again. I don't know what to do with the sword. It isn't better than mine.

Took me a couple of tries too. Chased him to mid bridge & by my using magic against him, triggered the anti-magic ban against myself! But I died so no biggie. Next time, I let him spot me then kept backing up till we were back in the woods beyond the guards but he killed me again. Third time I used strategy! backed away, shot one fireball….just enough to alert the bridge guards who finished him off for me. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Now I too am wondering about keeping the axe. Two enchants = better than my one, but I have no training in blunt. Guess I'll return it to the mine….where? Hope someone notices and gives me credit for being so noble. [Image Can Not Be Found] Although the way the game is written, it wouldn't surprise me for the weapon to have a curse over time, some dire effect that isn't noticed until it nerfs.

P.S. All thanks go to you for your timing out alert.

I'm thinking about selling it. It is in my stash box. I don't know where to put it in the mine and could be wandering quite a while. Maybe next to the Master Smith. When I tried to cross the rope bridge to the painted stones, it collapsed, dropping me down. The next time, I jumped, but noticed later that the bridge was down.

Any idea who gives the most gold? I want to sell the gold plated bow. Also, who can renew the magic enchantments? Only in Erothin or the Sanctum?

What are you doing next? I have the bath house lady and the box we couldn't find earlier. Nothing big.

Golden bow? Is that what you picked from the Mayor? I got a 1h sword that I will enchant when I find a good something-to-enchant-with better than 1 pt over 3 sec.

Seems rechargers are everywhere but maybe only because I don't need them. Magic-using A-race elves? (like me) Not normal town-dwellers, for sure.

I need to explore Erothin before leveling further, I might be 13 now.

You might want to find a Nehrim map online & check out icons (mines, ruins) in areas you've played but missed finding. That's how I'm behind you quest-wise yet not too far behind level-wise.

Erothin is HUGE. And it's dark. Cast the memory spell on the guard & can't find his house & afraid he'll regain his senses before I do. Anyone done this quest yet? And can give me some directions to his house?

In other news, forgot to put back the cursed weapon so dragging it around. Forgot to tell someone at Sanctum I rescued daughter so even though I just left there, I must return soon before BossMage-V the quest-giver leaves forever.

Are you both riding horses? Foot travel between Erothin & Sanctum is getting old even with shortcuts (curses on impassible mountains!) but when I tried the donkey, I steered slower than running by foot. Maybe I'll try a horse, but doubt I show improvement. Two Worlds was the only game I could control a mount any better than running.

Yapette, the house is not far from the cemetary. Go through the gate to the market, where your chest is, and continue straight past it on the road that turns right. If you end up at the palace, you've gone too far.

I've been traveling by foot. It seems as fast. I had no problem riding it. I went  north of Erothin to a grotto and then south to the sewers. Also. got the key for the bathhouse lady using a scroll I bought. I am at level 13.

Thanks, Pokey. I think my major problem is I haven't explored the city yet in daylight. No idea of bearings (my chest? the market?) & all the buildings (and doorways w/ owner's names) are still in the "fog of war." I may have to reload back to when I arrived in daylight, take a look around, then reload to the present when it's night & he's memory-erased.

Well....SHIT!

Scout, if you haven't done this guest yet (guard Sanctum recruit in Erothin) do not read.

!?!?!?!?!?!?

First time I finally found his house, who should be walking down the path & into his door....the guard!

Reload.

Ran to his house, entered & shit! bumped into the thief who ran away & expected me to keep up with my rotten framerates. I was on his tail till he jumped in the water & I couldn't tell which way he jumped.

Quest fails (I'm assuming, menu in German), reload.

Swap to boots with +2 speed, run after thief & get ready to jump into water the other side and quest fails.

Not going to reload tonight. Is that what you did? Reload & reload?

Just keep following the running thief and reloading. Eventually you'll run him to ground. I did this quest way too early and had to cheat my way through in god mode when I hit the goblins later on. Are you getting a load screen when the quest fail screen comes up, Yapette? I thought it was just me but maybe that is the way the devs designed it. I guess they really want you to run that sucker down. It's very doable though. You just have to chase him until you see where he is headed.

Yes, explore Erothin in the day. It's large and confusing as it is. The smith is a good landmark for finding the merchant square. Turn left at the smith (you'll hear him hammpering away…) and then the next left and then you are go down an block to the merchant area with good dealers and your chest. You can also access the harbor areas from the merchant area as well.

I finally gave up and added a minimap mod. Couldn't take all the tabbing in and out of the game map. Unfortunately there is no fog of war on the minimap, just everything revealed. I depend on the fog to show where I have yet to explore. At least I don't have to toggle back and forth so much. I find it very distracting though, even in paper mode but I guess I'll get used to it. Why couldn't they just reproduce the minimap in MW? It worked great. You could resize it in game with your cursor and it had fog of war too. I will try and relocate it at the top of the screen. God I miss MW. I'm beginning to believe that was Bethesda's high point.

I finished the Steel Mine and chased the messager down. I thought it was going to be a hassle but I hit him once when he stopped at the bridge and he went down. The guards jumped him for some reason. I thought they were after me for a minute and almost hit one but backed off to get my bearing and the quest over screen flashed up. I'm going to dump the axe back in the mine as my two-handed is better and I'm trained up in blade. I'm going to carry all the loot out of there and try and load up and teleport somewhere like I used to in MW. Not sure if you can do it in Nehrim though.

Scout, I tried teleporting with excess loot in the Kim rescue and it didn't work. Maybe it will using a spell. There is little loot in the mine except for the beginning and the end. I realize that I forgot to pick up the magic sign, so will try taking the axe back to the Master Smith area.

I got a quest to get some info for an old guy in Erothin. The location is way to the NW, a long way by roads. May try going overland and sea.

I'm getting the black screen on exit now that I am in the Erothin area.
