"I felt like I was in a German Expressionism Painting"

Gack. Now I'll have to find the Oblivion discs. In this corner The Bridge, dogmatic powerhouse tagteam to rule them all and in the opposite corner our challenger Kandinsky and his Synesthethic Belt of Many Colors.

With shooting stuff with spells? Yum.

Check it out Finkbug. It's got a very mild undertaste of Morrowind to it. They used things like learning pts and paid trainers from Gothic to replace Beth's scheme. (EDIT: Replace is too strong a word...more like as an adjunct to Beth's scheme...you can still up your skills via use but it's super slow....faster is to spend pts and $ if you have it ( It's rough around the edges and there are a few little bugs crawling around. Some crazy German guys spent 4 or 5 years making this mod and bascially delivered an entirely new game. It's not super polished but it's endearing.

As for those level labels I think they are just pointing out general combat difficulty for backwoods encounters. I've taken my level 6 character into some level 25 areas without too much trouble. Of course I'm not doing any cross country hiking sure to stir up predators either. Going from town to town on the paths doesn't seem to be too much of a problem…yet.

Yapette, I read on the developer's forum discussion about the interface thingie.

Wait a sec, Finkbug. I take NO responsibility for your feedback if you play. Black Troll. [Image Can Not Be Found] Bricks 'n' rats. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Nevertheless, where I went was as I said. Life is not all picking flowers & riding donkeys. Ominous.

I've been checking out all the buildings at the Arcane Sanctum. Bought some spells and this time it worked. The head mage, Vanmiria, took quite a while to show up, but finally got the quest to go to the shrine. I was attacked by a witch in the basement, ran upstairs and let others kill her. She had a nice wand on her. I'm getting low on gold so will probably sell that heavy armor I found. I think I want to stay in light armor.

Yapette, check the Achievements menu to see what your magic level is. I just found out mine was 2. All the little screens that flash on and off too fast to read record here.

I bought the flash heal level 2 spell so now I can heal during battle without drinking all my potions.

Has anyone else noticed that you can heal using the T button. Wait an hour in a safe place and heal up. I had forgotten all about this. I think Morrowind had this but not sure if Obvlion did. I spent a small fortune on healing potions before I discovered this. Doh! I used this function when I was cleaning out a bunch of Young Orges in a dungeon. That and shooting them with arrows from a narrow place they couldn't get through. Nice thing is you can get most of your arrows back once you loot the bodies.

Sort of peeved I don't get any payment for these big quests I'm doing. Just a thanks buddy and now do this. Guess I'm on my own as far a making money is concerned.Yapette have you found any good Alchemy kits laying around?

Pokey I did the same thing with that Liche in the basement. I ended up selling the wand though.

I didn't know about  using T to heal. That will be handy. I haven't used any healing potions yet, just the heal spell we were given at the beginning. The new spell I bought heals twice as fast but uses up manna quick.

I used T (wait) in Oblivion to turn night into day. In Nehrim I've used T to take naps. Inside mines & such, I rest on bed(roll)s for 1 hr. to heal. Scout, you mean *without* beds we still heal with T?

Thanks, will check my achievements.

Nothing that I have found looks like a potion maker, dragging around a ton of herbs in case I stumble upon one. Alchemy kits, you say? I have been looking for an alchemy table and/or a trainer. Since mining & smithy-stuff & cooking are now available where we're playing, it seems that alchemy should be around here too.

I read in a tool tip while the game loaded….at that Elrod (whatever the name is) City, some shrine will heal disease for free. Thanks to our mandrake havesting, it's not such a do-or-die tip anymore.

I remembered my fire spell fighting those ogres. Yes, mana goes quickly when spellcasting. Reason why I must decide if I'm seriously going that way so I can put serious  points into intell/willpower. [Image Can Not Be Found]

I'm a halfling, half that hated A-something race. Many humans hurry away from me in disgust. [Image Can Not Be Found] On the other hand, I have knock-dead looking face & hair. [Image Can Not Be Found] (same face/hair I have via mods in Oblivion)

They just can't stand your awesomness, Yap. They have to go hide and cry alone, in the dark. So they run away.

You're talking about an alchemy table. I can't remember seeing one. Odd thing is the alchemist in the Sanctum (an elf by the way…) won't talk to me, being the stuck white girl battlemage that I am. So my alchemy is at a pathetic 5.

I am getting the idea that I'm missing some story in this translation. Every one is raving about the story here and I'm not feeling it.This is starting to feel really familiar, tilting more toward Oblvion and away from Gothic. What I like about Gothic was how the story was everywhere, in every camp and village and city, the underlying story was right in front of you. Here, as in Oblivion, it's more diffused and unconnected. The gameplay makes up for it though.

I finally got the money to buy a donkey but it didn't seem to ride any faster than I can run. Also, I couldn't find a way to get it to carry inventory. So I'm mulling it over. I might hold out for a horse later and spend my cash on some learning pts before they get too expensive to buy. Being a Battlemage means I have to split pts already between magic and swords/armor. Not sure if bumping up alchemy might be stretching things too thin. I think I want firbaball and iceball spells more than the ability to sell lots of potions to make money.

Yes, just resting anywhere for an hour will heal you. You can't do it in combat or with enemies nearby so if you have a forest wolf hot on your behind you better have a plan B. Mine was to run back to the nearest village and let the guards deal with it.

I'm going same way as you: ice to freeze (paralyze momentarily, I hope) then fire to fry. Just a reminder, in Oblivion some mobs are immune to fire so it's smart to keep (at least) a shock staff on hand at all times.

Alchemy to make $ & stay alive cheaply. Besides which, although I generally loathe & avoid crafting, I love picking herbs. And mining. Go figure.

I'm predicting my blade & armor training will suffer from lack of points. But blades are great mana-less damage-doers. Wonder if we stood at a tree & keep whacking, would blade skill increase? Kill crabs & lowly things? I have only just visited the shrine so nobody has yet made me commit to a "build."

Say, what's an "infusion" potion or spell do, any ideas? I was thinking "detect life" till I saw a spell for "detect life." (or whatever it's called).

Story? Continuity? Although I faithfully read every line spoken by npcs, I couldn't tell you thing one about the main storyline. Which is about par for me in rpgs. But I *do* know there's a dagger in my backstory and I used to live in a 2 story house in this little village that starts with "L." But it burned a while ago & now a pig & chickens wander the charred ruins. [Image Can Not Be Found]

I've rescued Kim in Sildern but I can't find my stuff. I've searched every crate and barrel. If I need a key for that gate, I don't know where it can be. Help! [Image Can Not Be Found]

I looked outside too.

Yummier yum. Only trick will be finding my disc. Two rooms, should be easy to find, but I've made that mistake before. My apartment is a friggin' pixel hunt.

Keep going all the way outside. It's at the very, very end of the trail.  Get the key. Go all the way back and use the key to open the barred gate. Keep going… all the way until Kim points out the chest where your stuff is. Kim will tell you when you at the right chest.

Scout, I went Paladin but I'm still not sure. [Image Can Not Be Found] An arcane stone every friggin' time I want to totally heal? Not going to happen.

Other special spells look ok if I can figure a spell rotation. Right now I have 4 to start off: Arcane (will temp stun*), Inflame (fire DOT), Fireball, then I'll probably be OOM (out of mana) so sword whacking. Heal. That rotation takes slots 1-5. Leaving only 6-8? For everything else? I need hotbars! ASAP! There is a mod that gives more hotkeys….I can't spellcast with only 8 slots.

Merzul did a pretty good job of filling in the backstory, explaining who's who in the world, and describing our long term goals. Scout, are you sure you listened to him? Er, read him? [Image Can Not Be Found]

Must get more hotkeys! Although I can't keep up w/ 8 as I have no set order of slotting stuff from day to day. I'm trying but failing to be consistent. I'm used to….I need….at least 2 rows across the bottom/screen. Yesterday!

Process of elimination - "infusion" must be Night Eye (of old).

* Decided to try this instead of already bought frost arrow spell which has only a % chance of stunning. Arcane is 100%. Or so I'm reading in descriptors.

Really? 18 slots? I'm thinking fireball and nasty sword. That's my plan of attack. Plan B is ice ball and run.  Or just run.

I listened to Merzul, but that's exposition to me. I'm talking about seeing the story underfoot, seeing the effect of the story/plot on the land and in the people. Maybe that will come more with the Main Quest.

Well I got that key (I didn't go quite far enough before) and grabbed my stuff, but now I need another key to get out. [Image Can Not Be Found]

I've looked all over but no key. Also, Kim no longer has a bow and fighting with fists.

I was thinking Paladin when I get the chance.

That was the part that drove me nuts. Ask Kim and what does he say? "Can't we simply *go* back to Sanctum?"You can. There are no keys to those other doors that I ever found. I just went to Sanctum by going back outside and fast traveling. Only time it ever worked on its own though I do notice some quest leaders will fast travel you with them to locations sometimes. So it's enabled only when the devs want to use it. The other keyed doors were red herrings.

Thanks. I would never have thought of that when there are doors that need keys. I loaded up on loot but couldn't take more than the limit.

For a really great sword, go on the quest to the bandit camp out of Castle Stonefield. You get a 12 damage two handed fine steel sword that just tears stuff up, including me until my buddy with the giant axe came to my rescue. I looted it off the main bandit. It's long too and I can hit from further out.

Once again, here at T-R we prove that size does matter.

I'll check that sword out when I finish the gifted one quest. I have one that does 7 damage but a black wolf just killed me. I need a better one. Trying to get into Erothin now. Guess they don't want to do business with me.

Here at T-R, we may not have everything, but we've got size™
