And you don't need a whole computer to play Fallout 3 or New Vegas, just a PS3 will do, and you can take it with you [Image Can Not Be Found] Show your sister the joys of the Megaton City while she's on the mend.

Oh, jarrod.   You have no idea how far away I am from buying a PS3 or any other console.   But it warms my heart that you still think that I might.   You are a real sweetheart. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Ah, if only the rest of the world took such a magnanimous view of suggestions to buy PS3s, it would be a much happier place.

Jarrod...I know that the worst of the weather/flooding is to the north of you, but still...how are you all doing?  Are you dry?  I hope so.

Pretty safe here, thanks Spike.  As you say, most of the damage is up north - it's cut off a few of my relatives up north, but they are safe and dry.  Fortunately swimming is a standard part of the school curriculum, which helps save lives a little.  A lot of the people up north don't have insurance against flooding as a standard part of their policy, which hurts those who've lost their houses and businesses.  I think it's been declared a national emergency, which helps free up relief funds.

I spent Xmas and New Years in my hometown of Toowoomba, which sits atop a mountain range, so is pretty safe.  The highway between there and Brisbane was a bit flooded and damaged, but nothing compared to what's going on up north.  The worst part for them is that they say it can rain again anytime ("rogue showers" or something equally ominous they call them).  They're pretty hardy up north, and they'll dig in and help each other through these floods.

As I said, I'm pretty safe here, but I appreciate the concern [Image Can Not Be Found]

Toowoomba: best hometown name ever! I grew up in one of a million Greenfields but will now be putting Toowoomba on all legal documents. While this will likely lead to arrest, prosecution, and heavy fines it's worth it.

Glad to hear you're well Jarrod, and floaties to the relatives.

Thanks Finkie!  If memory serves, 'Toowoomba' is Aboriginal for 'swamp'... just something to think about before you start saying you're from there [Image Can Not Be Found]

Are you kidding? Swamp on a mountain is Lost World cool. Toowoomba gets better and better.

We'll see how putting it on my driver's license renewal form goes tomorrow. The DMV is not known for its appreciation of others' whimsy.

It went poorly. A plump matron stared a hole through my chest. My attempt to explain why it was all lost world and whimsical ran into "This the DMV. There are no jokes."

I could've used your backup though judging by tonight's L4D2 I tend to shoot my backup in the head.

The downtown area of my hometown Toowoomba just flash flooded today, but all of my relatives are ok.  The worst flooding is down the bottom of the mountain range that Toowoomba sits on, in that local area, and further north in the state.

Amazing stuff - a Coffee Club that I sat in not 14 days ago had muddy water up to its ceiling.  Should be pretty safe here in Brissie though.  My relatives in Toowoomba are all safe - the flood was pretty localised to a small gully that meanders through the centre of the town, and there's not a lot of people that live there.  Businesses, on the other hand, will take a bit of a hit.

Yeah - there's plenty more up on Youtube as well.  I think my father got his new car on Friday, so I'll bet he's not driving anywhere.

Stuff like this makes you appreciate how small we really are compared to all of the natural forces in the universe.  We like to think we are the centre of the universe at times, but to the forces of nature we are not really even an inconvenience - it just marches on.

I've been watching videos of the flood on TV. The amount of land involved is huge.

Looks like Brisbane will have a bit of flooding after all - shouldn't affect me too much, either where I live, or my house (fingers crossed).  May prove a bit difficult to get to work tomorrow if some of the roads have water on them...  but I guess I'll just stay home and play on my PC if the roads are cut off.

Toowoomba's still a bit wet, but I think they can start on some of their clean-up now.  Poor Dalby, a small town near Toowoomba, got flooded and the people cleaned up, then two weeks later if flooded with higher water levels.

Couldn't get to work today, and it's not looking too good for tomorrow.  Wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't lock myself out of my room, hehe.

Just had KFC for dinner, and they've run out of chicken as their suppliers can't get through to them.  Crazy stuff.

Once everyone realizes the KFC is gone, use your zombie elimination training when people turn on each other. Baseball (or cricket) bats being the preferred weapon of zombie killers everywhere.

Stay safe and dry, Jarrod!

KFC?  I guess desperate times call for desperate measures.  [Image Can Not Be Found]Hang in there.  Maybe you will be able to get REAL food soon.  Be well.
