In the first village now, picking every pocket I can find. I am enjoying the dialouge trees too. Taking a chance on what to reveal, when to lie, when to tell the truth. When to attack, when to walk away. It adds a lot to role playing my character, having actual, real to life options instead of kiss, kill or snore.
I always was a trouble maker!
I finally left Lothering and am at some camp, getting ready to set off.
Unfortunately, I'm heading back to the midwest for the next 10 days and won't be doing any gaming for the duration.
The game has finally snared me though, so I hope to pick it up when I get back.
Cheers! [Image Can Not Be Found]
It will be a while before the battle. There is a lot to be done. It was fun creeping through the Arl's estate in disguise, but I was captured and thrown in prison and had to find a way to escape. Anora was convincing in her argument to be made queen. I hope we can trust her. Alistair doesn't seem interested in the crown. We are headed to the Alienage to see what is going on there.
I missed out on getting Duncan's shield too. That is a tricky quest, especially when you are sneaking though in disguise.
We finished the investigation at the Alienage and discovered what Lohgain was up to. When we showed up at the Landsmeet, it erupted in a huge messy battle and my computer crashed. Probably too much action on the screen. I will try it again today.
Toger, I haven't been able to do the quest for the Keening blade. I looked for the nervous adventurer in the Tapster's Tavern, but he wasn't there. It seems like I have seen him before. I don't recall any notes and I have no quest listed.
I am at the point Scout was at on Dec 15 when he said.........
I finally got the top of the tower and the big, nasty Ogre. I've only taken a couple of runs at him, both disasterous, though the second time I almost got him. I've got to try something different than my three warriors rushing in to get crushed and stomped. Maybe see if Alastier can tank while me and the generic warrior dude use our bows and the mage fire stuff. Boy I could use a healer. Not to be with this battle though.
I also have more work to do in figuring out how to manage parties. [Image Can Not Be Found] That is why I quit Baldur Gate 1. But this game seems so intriguing and so well done visually that I don't want to quit. So this is the time I may learn how to do it. Anyway besides having my party decimated 6 times by a monstrous ogre, I am liking this game a lot. [Image Can Not Be Found] kay

Have a great trip, Scout!
Kay, that Ogre took me some time to bring down as well. Even with Toger's excellent tactics tutorial, I found myself depending on them too often. So far my experience is that you have to pause combat often and issue manual orders to your people in order to prevent slacking during fights. My party often ignores tactics like "Enemy - Nearest Visible - Attack," even if it's first in their queue. I think the intrigue level of the game is easily high enough to overcome any frustrations you have, so hang in there!
Meanwhile, my team got their asses handed to them in Castle Redcliffe, so I implemented a policy of strategic retreat so as to do some quests around town. I didn't realize Redcliffe had a chanter's board - hopefully I'll get a level or two from that stuff, then it's once more into the breach! With luck, no one will realize that I haven't been in the castle for like a week...

I have the Keening Blade. There was a adventurer in the forest ruins that I missed. I also found that if you set the quest to the active one, it places a marker to show where to go next. I have been searching out Revenants. Got the one in the royal palace and at the crossing but they didn't have the Juggernaut armor. I have one piece now. I'm going to look in the forest next. We should be better armed for the battle at Landsmeet when we go back there.
Later...I have the Juggernaut armor now and am ready for battle.
Because I so rarely replay games, I've checked out some videos of the various endings and was surprised by how much PC players are pausing during gameplay. I do remember reading somewhere that the console versions play more like an actionRPG and I'd have to agree with that assessment having seen the videos.
Pokey, I think you and I have made similar decisions. It'll be interesting to see if you get the same ending that I did. Good luck with the coming battle.
Somehow I managed Redcliffe - village and castle - with nary a hair out of place. I lost only the mayor during the village portion and had to take on the Revanant in the Castle forecourt twice before making my way inside. Is that boasting? Being a combat weenie makes me do that. Steerpike, don't forget the Blackstone regulars quests. Those are available in Redcliffe, too.

Since I last posted, I have made great strides in managing my party and understanding how this game works. Got more into tactics for my party. The Ogre in the tower is gone. I and my party are now in Lothering. I am working on smaller qwests to build up experience before we head out into the wilds again.
I have Alstair, Lelianna, Morrigan, Sten, and dog (who in memories of dogs past I have named Dogmeat) as potential party members.
I love the interactions (overheard) between party members. Like Lelianna telling Morrigan that she would love to take her out shopping for some great clothes but they would have low fronts to show off her attributes. Morrigan obviously is not interested. In fact I think Morrigan has her eye on Alstair.
What a fun game. [Image Can Not Be Found] I am loving it.

Glad you're loving it, Kay, I am too. I do suggest that you take Toger's advice: do all quests possible in Lotharing - you'll find them on the Chantry Board) before you leave. This is a key opportunity to level your team before things get really rough.
Good luck!

Nope, I never used the shapeshifter skill set. I don't even think I upgraded it. I tacitly ignored it. [Image Can Not Be Found]
I did have a bear "friend" in the Harrowing portion of the Mage origin which I need to finish. It was useful, but I'm more of a fire-starter kind o' girl.

Return to Ostagar DLC drops January 5th. By then, I should have completed all the origins and may start anew. Meanwhile, my gaming backlog silently weeps.

I am now way into Broken Circle and The Fade. Working on Templar Nightmare. Liking this a lot. I adore my little mouse. In fact once in Mage Asunder I used it to go into a room with two hunking golems and run across the floor and get an Essence of Cunning and run back to the mouse hole and out. This was after 4 tries to fight and kill these golems.
Anyway I am hanging in there and making progress although progress is often slow and takes many tries. kay

My new pile of Santa Claus-given games, plus my crazed Steam purchases, have now left me with a backlog that may rival even Toger's. I haven't been back to Dragon Age in a while, but I must return soon. Scout, I'm only a bit ahead of you, so we're the stragglers.
