I did the same thing. I had to go back and wander around and talk to everyone. I thought my Elf Male character had swept the cute thief off her feet but apparently I hadn't been as slick as I had thought. She gave me the old "let's just be friends" line when I invited her to travel with me. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Finally finished DA:O.  Sacrificed myself for the greater good.  Had a tower named after myself.  I didn't think the game was going to let me do the deed myself, but apparently you can.  Was a nice touch having all of the little comments at the end of the game, telling you who went on to do what.  Now I just need to go through it being a complete bastard...

Congratulations,  Jarrod. It was quite a journey.  At least for me.   I am almost finishing up DAO Awakening.  What are you on to next?   Kay

Hey Kay,

Not too sure - I got some birthday money yesterday that I might blow on the GOTY edition of Fallout 3 (which I haven't played yet, and the GOTY version looks like it comes with a lot of the expansions).  Loved Morrowind (one of my all-time favs), and Oblivion.  And Pete Hines has always been kind enough to reply to my emails, so I don't mind giving Bethesda Softworks my hard earned cash.

So I think a sci-fi RPG will be a nice counter-point to DA:O, for the time being.  Or I may give in to the new Transformers game, which I think is coming out later this month...  Not that I'm expecting it to be a great game - merely a guilty pleasure.

Any suggestions?  Have you got your next game lined up?

Do it Jarrod. Fallout 3. Do it.  I loved Morrowind and I liked Oblivion and I thought Fallout 3 was incrediably good and not to be missed.  It was hard for me but every game where I have to kill is hard for me.  Of course, every game where I don't have to kill now bores me

Kay's right.  F3 is one huge, fantastic game.  Get the GOTY edition with all 5 add-ons.  It's worth the money - and then some.

Thanks for the cross-validation guys!  I'll pick it up this weekend, methinks (long weekend here to celebrate the Queen's b'day).

It's all truth. Fallout 3 was/is an unlikely masterpiece if ever there was one.

At the end of the day if I could have owned only one game for my Xbox 360 it would be Fallout 3 (Braid is XBLA so that doesn't count- please don't make me choose!)

Better than Mass Effect 2

Better than Call of Duty 4

Better than Halo 3 (okay, so Minesweeper is better than Halo 3, too...)

Better than Arkham Asylum

Better than Gears of War

Better than GTA IV

Better than Bioshock (that's right)

Basically better than every other critically acclaimed 7th generation game. In my humble opinion, of course.

Fire up the game this weekend, go into Moriarty's Saloon, and lift a glass to the old girl who made this long weekend possible for you.

This why I love taprepeatedly

First, the forums  from FFC  are still here.    This was a big F deal for me to see what would happen when other people took it over from Jen.

And this is why I love the old and new members of  taprepeatedly:   they will still stick around and help people through a game.  As they did me with Dragon Age Origins.

And they will take the time to give someone like me advice about what to play next based  on what I have played and liked in the past.  Pokey and Scout and Steerpike have pointed me to games that I have been able to play and have loved.

I may not post that often,  but I am so happy to have this place here.   This is the 789th game board that I have posted on.  And it is the first one that has become a home. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Thanks xtal for the heads-up, although I bought it on the PS3. ($58AUD, which I think is about US$49 at the moment, I think), so not too bad.

Found Moriarty's bar (but forgot to raise a glass for the Ol' Ma'am), snuck in through the back door, already stole his password and looked in his computer terminal.  Just managed to get to level 5 yesterday, and fought my first Glowing One.  Died several times before taking him and his followers down.

I'm enjoying myself immensely, it's as good as I hoped it would be (well, at least so far)!  Thanks again for everyone's thoughts!

If you ever need any help, or just want to talk about the game, you can continue the Fallout 3 thread in Bollocks.

Glad you're having fun.  Do you have the GOTY edition (and is there one for PS3?)

On second thought, Jarrod, I'll do for you what Yapette did for me...I'll start your very own F3 Bollocks thread.

Aannnd, just to bring this around full circle:

New DLC is scheduled – Leliana's Song

Assume the role of Leliana, a young bard involved in a criminal ring

that deals in political secrets. Accompanying her mentor Marjolaine on a

high-risk mission, Leliana soon finds herself entangled in a game of

intrigue that she cannot escape with just her beauty, charm, or stealth.

The only way out of this game is to kill or be killed.

This sounds intriguing. I never got to complete her story so playing her origin would be fun. I certainly hope it won't start players off at a high level like Awakenings. That campaign was almost too easy starting off at level 19 or so.

And because I'm enthralled by the all things Ferelden, has anyone else seen Machinima.com's Warden's Fall episodes? They're wonderfully done. Currently, it's providing some back story to one of the Wardens you're to meet in Awakenings.

Finally back to Awakening after a month long hiatus. I am playing on normal and I have lost my entire party a couple of times, usually cause I get careless. If I keep them back a bit and pull the mobs in it's no contest though. I imagine if I upped the difficulty I'd actually have to start using tatics. I hate tactics.[Image Can Not Be Found] My elf is a pretty hardened warrrior guy and I almost took out a Drake and his entire entourage singlehandedly after they wiped out my party unexpectedly. It was in the silverite mines though and I didn't have all my potions so it eventually wore me down. It was down to my Elf and the Drake and I would have had it if I had had another two potions. Holy crap! I found The Lost last night with its big friend and got my elfin warrior butt handed to me pretty quickly. I need to think about this one. Meanwhile, back to the surface and other stuff.
