Toger said:Way to go, kay! Are you headed to the Landsmeet next?
Yes, I am moving towards the Landsmeet. I am saving the queen. I love this game. It has pushed me way beyond my game playing skills in terms of building a team and fighting. But I have never wanted to quit. For me that is a terrific game. Well, let's see if I actually get to the end. kay

Loading Dragon Age: Origins as we speak (I'm all tingly [Image Can Not Be Found])
Appearantly the less-than-half-price sticker was a mistake, and the lost a lot of money on mine and a few others that sold quickly.
Hooray for bargain scavengers!

Jarrod, how quickly do you play? (akin to asking, "how blue is the sky?")
I left DA:O in the tutorial & have since played either nothing or WoW or Divinity II. Current plan is to reach a point in Divinity II where I quit in disgust at not being sufficiently nimble-fingered to survive as a dragon being bombarded with flying stuff. A point that is quickly approaching.
WoW only interests me until the character who is lvl 76.5 reaches (lvl cap) 80. At which time I will have explored most of Lich King (minus dungeons) & it'll be unsub time again.
Wondering if maybe I should jump back in & play along with you in DA:O Redux. It's either that, Drakensang or M.E.I&II. After plodding thru Div 2, I deserve something fun! with interesting npcs! who have personalities!
Yap, after playing DA:O, the companions in ME, the first, did absolutely nothing for me. They appeared dull and lifeless. They didn't have snappy repartee with each other or with me. That depressed me. However, I was able to forge ahead until having to drive the Mako. After exploring one or two planets, I quit in disgust due to the enemy AI's ability to kill me with unerring accuracy from yards/miles/kilometers away and yet I could not return the favor. I hope you fare better than I.
If you decide to go with Drakensang, let me know as I've not started it. And you know how much fun we have when playing together. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Hmmm, playing Drakansang next is what I had really wanted to do. Haven't quite reached the point of gaming despair that leads me to suspect that I might have picked the wrong hobby thus in desperate need of a booster shot from a 5-star game such as DA:O after which I'm expecting a looong drought of less-wonderfulness. (Parse that sentence, English teachers!)
Plus Drakensang is party-based so more opportunities to fracture npc names. [Image Can Not Be Found]
I'll try to ramp up my sorry-assed due to nonenjoyment 60 minutes or so daily in Divinity 2. Before I reach aerial combat, I might have to jump & fight through an area. That, right there, will provide an even earlier that's-all-she-wrote, kiss-of-death for continuing. We'll see…..[Image Can Not Be Found]
The Mako is why I'm holding off starting M.E. as long as possible.
Yap, I usually don't get much time to sink into games, but I have ALL day today to put into it. I'm a lvl 7 Elvish Mage at the moment, and I've just finished Lothering.
I made a vow to give up WoW when I bought my PS3, otherwise I'd still be stuck in it [Image Can Not Be Found] I even introduced both of my parents to WoW, who have more lvl 80's than I ever did (which also made it very had to leave WoW behind).
I don't usually tell too many people I play(ed) WoW - my local IGDA peeps don't think too highly of it or the people who play it. I tell them I'm a drug dealer instead, to gain more respect.
So Far DA:O looks good - very, very similar to the KOTOR games. Once you finish the main quests, can you wander around free-form? That's one thing that The Elder Scrolls had over KOTOR games.

Well, yes and no. You can definitely recruit a race; then wander off to do side quests; back to gathering races to your side, etc. However, once you've gotten the four races on your side you'll want to have completed the majority of side quests prior to Landsmeet as you could suddenly find yourself being funnelled into the end game with several side-quests left undone.

Imagine my surprise?.[Image Can Not Be Found] I actually made it all the way to the end of Dragon Age Origins!!!! [Image Can Not Be Found] A very difficult game for me but I did learn how to gather, support, supply, and manage a team and plan some strategies to fight and we became fairly good together. For most of the game and all of the last part after the landsmeet, it was Alistair as my tank, me as elf rogue, Morrigan, and Wynne. And we save Ferelden. Now here I am alone in the Awakening . [Image Can Not Be Found]
After Awakening, I will move on. [Image Can Not Be Found] Right now I think I will try The Witcher. Scout gave that a pretty good review and I trust his reviews.
Anyway, I am feeling sort of proud of myself. As I do when I actually finish any non adventure game. For a wimp, I surprise myself.[Image Can Not Be Found]

Grats Kay! Still trying to get the dwarves myself, so that I can call the Landmeet. You'll have to let us know what you think about Awakening after you finish it too!

Congrats kay! Wasn't it sad to see it all end?
As to Awakenings, you won't be alone for long...

It was sad to see it end. And that is why I bought Awakenings. To keep it going a bit longer. But it is just an epilogue. OK but nothing special.
I do, however, have 2 questions for anyone who has played Awakening.
- Once I installed Awakening I could no longer go back to the original Dragon Age. According to the directions that came with Awakening, I should be able to go back to Dragon Age Origins by inserting the original disc in my drive. But whenever I do, I get a disc not found , insert disc message. Is there something I need to do.
- Also, I seem to be unable to sort out the bottom bars (where the skills and capabilities of my companions are). I can't move anything. Any suggestions?
Other than that I am enjoying Awakenings as way to let myself down easy from Dragon Age. And when I finish it, I will move on to The Witcher since Scout gave it a good review and Pokey said I would like it. With that from the two of them, I can see that is my next move for a game.[Image Can Not Be Found]

I think I'm the only one here who's played Awakenings; however, I played on the 360 so I may not be much help.
On the 360, I can start the game with either disc and once I get past the "logging into Dragon Age servers" screen, it lets me choose which campaign to play. At that point, if I've started with the Awakenings disc and wish to play Origins, it'll make me swap out the discs.
Your second question, I'm totally unable to help as I've got a completely different visual interface for skills/inventory/etc.

Yes you are both right I can use the Awakening disc to start a new Dragon Age Origins game but I can't seem to find a way to get back to my saved games. Well, I guess that when it is over, it is over.
I did solve the problem of being able arrange skills and abilities on the characters' bottom bar. At the far right is a tiny little lock. Duh. [Image Can Not Be Found] When it is locked, one can't move things around. When it is unlocked one can. I can't believe I played the whle game without discovering that. But I guess it was set at unlocked so I never had a problem organizing that bar for characters.

kay,
To return to Origins from the Awakenings dvd:
Go to Main Menu
click on Load Game
click on Switch Character
A list of all your Dragon Age characters will appear, including any from Origins.
Click on you desired Origins character. You'll see a screenshot of your last save.
Once you click on your Origins character you will see all your saves from the original game.
Thanks, Scout, I will give that a try. I did want to go back and see the ending again. I was so astounded that I had actually won the last big battle that I hardly listened to what happened afterwards throughout Ferelden. And then I immediately loaded Awakening and found I couldn't get back. Kay19
