Nerd rage® can be lethal when bottled up and suddenly released. Beware!
Oh, and to, uh, add some non-off-topic-ness to my post: I still suck at Dragon Age. I don't know what's wrong with me, but this bad-ass seriously crushes me like few others have before. I've probably only found this game harder.
If being wrong's a crime I'm serving forever
Bummer on the blades. That was my main arsenal. I had a nifty blue glowing one from one of the DLCs I used all the time. Forgot the name of it. I'll pass on viewing the nerd rage. I see enough of it every where I go on the internet anymore. No....I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition.... [Image Can Not Be Found]
I love Monty Python.
Well, I figured out the issue with my blades not importing. I think. I'm playing on the 360 and there was an update to the main game about the same time Return to Ostagar released. I d/l Ostagar, but never fired up the game so said update never got applied. Going back to look at what weapons I'd had equipped triggered the update.
Since I was in the main campaign, I decided to Return to Ostagar. Granted, we were stupidly overpowered to be there, but we were able to locate both Caillan's and Duncan's gear plus give Caillan a propoer send-off. The added bonus was offing the troll that broke Caillan and snuffing the life outta that annoying little necromancer who tormented us by rezzing various and sundry (including said troll) thus causing us to chase him all over the place. Alas, Duncan's body was nowhere to be found.
I restarted Awakenings (it's the Yap-grrl way to restart at least once) and Ilonka imported just fine… well, without boots as she'd been wearing the Lion's Paw boots the entire time and those didn't carry over due to their being DLC. She's equipped with Fang (passed down from her mother and suitably runed) and Duncan's sword (also runed). We have to retake Vigil's Keep, but I'm laying waste to darkspawn much faster now that I've some steel in hand. I also stumbled upon a baby quest that I missed the first time through due to not being able to save some of the soldiers still fighting in Vigil's Keep courtyard.
And the missing Keening blade? I'd forgotten that I'd given it to Alistair, so it wouldn't have imported regardless! Oops! [Image Can Not Be Found]

um, no. It's a game; hence my playing it on a gaming platform. And I have no shame. [Image Can Not Be Found]
We've retaken Vigil's Keep. This time, the proper royal appeared at the end - Her Royal Iceness, Bitchy Anora - we traded barely concealed insults. I wouldn't be surprised if she knows about the conspiracy plans against me and just turns a blind eye. She did betray me twice already.
Anders and Oghren have taken to imitating the other to much comic effect. Anders thinks Oghren is nothing more than a smelly, drunken oaf (true) while Oghren feels that Anders is something of a nancy boy because he wears robes. Anders countered that the robes were handy for quick trysts in the tower. Oghren is thinking on that. Anders did turn into a sticky puddle of goo when I gave him what-turned-out-to-be the perfect gift.
I've already had to make two major decisions that will most assuredly bite me in the ass, but I plan to play it out.

Apparently, there are two factions of talking dark spawn as I've now met them both in one way or another. The Architect was the creepier of the two as he (it?) has been experimenting on various and sundry species. He's most interested in what makes Wardens tick. Now that I think of it, both factions are curious about Wardens.
I've found and recruited all six of the new companions. (picked up the final one - Justice; who has quite a curious back story - last night) Oghren is the only returning companion from the original campaign; although I did run into Wynne during one of my trips to Amaranthine. She needed help locating another mage. Said mage wasn't all that thrilled and seems to have issues with "she who's so perfect the Fade shines out her bum".
Had to mete out some justice regarding affairs in the Arling. Sheesh, this ruling business is tough work. Invariably, someone is always annoyed at the decisions Ilonka's made.
We're currently in some dank, dark swamp just about to go up against some sort of demon who pulled an entire village into the Fade. At least this time, everyone came with me; including Oghren who was most unhappy about being in a dream world. Dwarves don't dream.

I am here but to serve. [Image Can Not Be Found]
I'm crazy over-powered. I should really stop being lazy and bump the difficulty. But I like not having to worry about my guts being spread o'er the land.
I may have missed a chance to battle one of the new dragons. Seems I overlooked a necessary article while in Blackmarsh's Fade. I refuse to reload and backtrack to that horrid, smelly, dank place... particularly since the Baroness damn near killed us all.
We're in one of the abandoned Thaigs - Kal'el or something similar. Found a golem control rod and a non-activated golem. Clicked on the golem and hiliarity ensued as it wandered off killing everything-not-my-party in its path. Afterwards, it calmly stomped back to its niche and deactivated.
Did I mention averting a food riot at Vigil's Keep?

Wow. There are still people here talking about this game. I am so glad snice I will soon start playng again.
I have been out of game playing for three weeks in Denver helping my sister after her knee replacement surgery.
I knew what her computer could do and I didn't take any video games with me. I took Bidge Baron 18 and worked on my bridge playing.
So after a three week time out, I am hoping I can get back into gaming -- especially completing Dragon Age Origins.

Well, I am... and I guess I'm people... so, yes! 😀
Actually, I'm playing the new expansion pack, Awakenings. It sorta, kinda continues the story of the Grey Wardens after the ending of Origins. I am entertained and that's what counts!
Glad to hear your sister is doing better, kay. And if you need any help getting through Origins, we're here!

xtal, I am always intimidated by these nonadventure games since for year I was adventure game only. But for me, this has been a really good game and I have forced myself to keep working on my RPG skills including building and developing a group. If I finish this game, it will be a real accomplishment for me. So I intend to finish it even though some of the fights are real challenges. I am at the brood mother/tentacles now and have tried it a couple of times and failed. Well, once more into the breach.

Well, I'm at the end game and The Mother (huge, creepy, crazy broodmother) is kicking my ass. Three times, so far. On easy. One of the go-rounds I'd actually gotten to wailing on her as I'd done away with the current batch of her "children" before a new wave of them came slithering out of the dark. feh [Image Can Not Be Found]
There have been some tough decisions leading up to this point; not all good, I'm sure. If I can make through the other side of the final battle, it'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out in the wrap-up.

Well, my time in Ferelden has ended yet again.
We defeated the hideous Mother – trudging back to Vigil's Keep to bring Nathaniel was the best idea I'd had all day – she didn't go down easily. Luckily, Anders (mage) and Vellana (Dalish mage; even bitchier than Morrigan if that's remotely possible) kept the "children" busy; froze or hexed the Mother while Ilonka worked her dual-wield dance and Nathaniel laid down some crazy arrow rain. Ilonka managed the kill shot and literally jammed her dagger down the Mother's throat. (eww and awesome at the same time)
The story ended abruptly with follow-up as to all that happens afterwards. One interesting tidbit for my character is that she's rumoured to have disappeared with Alistair. um… okay. But, in my original campaign Alistair is… you know… Oh well, what's a little free-wheeling in a fantasy story?
I'm not sure if I got a "good" ending or not as one of the final decisions I made wasn't an easy one and the wrap-up made mention of a few bad things happening later, but then things seemed to turn themselves around. A case of door closed, window opens?
I'm pretty sure I'll play through the whole thing again sometime. Not too soon though, as my backlog taunts me daily.
Almost forgot: for those that may follow, if follow the main plotline you could easily find yourself at the end game without having completed all the sidequests. I knew about this beforehand so was able to avoid that pitfall. Tread carefully.
