It got stretched vertically and scrunched horizontally, but the Tap at Random graphics are stretched horizontally.   A bit harder to read, but that might be because it's different. Change.  Hmmpphh.

However, since the footer is bigger I finally looked at it for the first time.  What kind of oatmeal cookies does Tap like?  Raisins?  Nuts?  Chocolate chips?  I, myself, love raisins.  And made with butter, not margarine or shortening.  Yum.

Oh, I think I get it.  This must be maintenance time.  Carry on.

I just assume they're always tinkering with it...  nothing surprises me format-wise with this site anymore [Image Can Not Be Found]

Tap-Repeatedly likes all kinds of oatmeal cookies. Tap-Repeatedly feels that the oatmeal cookie is the greatest example of cookiedom.

Yes, we are doing some maintenance and theme changes, so things will be hectic for a while. Please bear with and let me know if you encounter any specific problems!

Now I want oatmeal cookies... made with butter (margerine [Image Can Not Be Found])... and raisins... and chocolate chips.

I think I'll make some when I go home tonight.

Raisins and chocolate chips never seemed to me like a good combo in a cookie, but I think you deserve cookies however you like them.  Margarine may come from natural stuff, but it seems like a robo-food.  I hate the stuff.  To cut back on saturated fat I simple cut back on real butter – some.  I couldn't imagine being stuck with fake butter for the rest of my life.

My fav cookie recipe is for Berlinerkranser given to me by a Hungarian friend in the late '60s.  It's basically a rich butter cookie containing grated orange rind and finely crushed nuts that is shaped into a Christmas wreath and decorated with candied red and green cherries.  But it tastes so good I make drop or pressed cookies with it and skip the cherries.  Yum.  Cookies are not just for Christmas.

We'd best watch out or Tap will turn into one of those women's web sites that I just hate.  [Image Can Not Be Found]

P.S.  I noticed the changes here before the Pardon Our Dust message went up.  Why apologize for the dust?  If someone doesn't like it they can go someplace else.  "Pardon Our Dust or Get Lost."  Helmut will attest to the fact that a bit of dust never hurt anything.

Ooh, I remembered the thing that I wanted to change about the site, if possible – when you log in, can it take you back to the page you were looking at, rather than the front end, please?

Not sure if you're taking requests – just the amount of times I jump into the forums, and then decide to log in, and then have to come back to the forums again is… well… something numerous?  I should have put more thought into that sentence…  It's almost beer o'clock, as we say, and time to go home.

That's an interesting question, Jarrod. I will look into it. By default WordPress takes you to the "dashboard" when you log in; however, readers have no reason to ever see the WP dashboard and get confused when they land there. It's really useful only for staff writers. So we use a plugin that redirects everyone except staff straight to the home page upon logging in... but it seems like it'd be possible to cookie each user and return them to whence they came. I have no idea how to do this, of course, but maybe we can find a new plugin that supports it. Great suggestion!

Spike, my apologizing for dust is kind of a code. MrLipid, Helmut, and Gregg all have a habit of not wearing trousers while they're working on the silo. Lipid says it "frees him," Helmut says it's the "natural way to code," and Gregg... well, Gregg's Gregg, you know? So when I say "pardon our dust" I really mean "please disregard the half-naked Canadian working on the PHP, the half-naked Brit tinkering with the style sheets, and the half-naked Minnesotan messing with the file system."

But that was too long to be a post title.

Life is the misery we endure between disappointments.

Damn you, Steerpike!!!  It'll take forever for me to get that image out of my mind.

Gregg:  I tend to doubt that we have very  many/much   ho's/hose here.  Then again, we might have a half-naked Canadian/Brit/Minnesotan wearing hose as they do their chores around the silo.  Another great image.  [Image Can Not Be Found]

I don't think I read that right - now I've got an imagine of a hose (ho's??) that is wearing a half-naked Canadian/Brit/Minnesotan

Ain't language wonderful?  And how (usually) great it is that the mind can

take language and twist it into either wonderful or frightening images. I

was picturing…aw, forget about it.  I'm gonna try to.

Edit:  Ah, I see your confusion Jarrod.  I meant  "half-naked Canadian/Brit/Minnesotan wearing pantyhose as they do chores".  I didn't mean to imply that any of them might be ho's.
