Well in the last one there was Flashback, Darwinia and Caesar III that's for sure. The first and third images were so familiar yet I couldn't place them.
Filters are out and Threshold is in?! What next Polar co-ordinates? I tell you what though, I'd like to see some Mosaic pixelated ones in the future.
I'm firing blanks on this one though.
Torn Paper, actually. : )
I don't mean to be a sadist in gamer's clothing. I mean to be a kinder, gentler Steerpike. Like a bunny.
We don't really have enough people to have a proper contest, so after this round Ill put it on hold and go back to just swapping out mildly distorted images. OR NOT!!!
Here are some clues (not in any order): I've only ever reviewed one of the games up there; so far there's always been one movie in the mix, so it's safe to assume the same here; one of them has roots in Bullfrog but isn't a Bullfrog game; one of them is obvious – even the people who've never touched it should recognize; and none of them are rotated or reversed or distorted in any way. Except for the distortion, I mean.
Oh! And the previous banner (how you got Darwinia is beyond me, Gregg)
- Terrence Malick's Days of Heaven
- Flashback
- Sword of Vermilion (box art – a classic Genesis/Mega Drive RPG)
- Two Worlds
- Caesar III
- Darwinia

Bullfdrog made Magic Carpet, which was great.... but hrmm... I can't recognise any as that. I might revise my answer to #6 as Command and Conquer... some of those icons on the side look like the power plants from C&C. I'm sure one of them must be Madworld - surely it's no coincidence that they are black and white like that...

Ha, I actually played 'Sword of Vermillion' way back when, but of course had no chance to figure out that slice of picture was the bit of cover art. [Image Can Not Be Found]
For this "Black and white" round, #5 must be one of the early Wizardy games. Maybe the very first one? The position of all the windows seems to fit. I agree with Jarrod that #6 has to be an RTS type game given all the icons on the right side. I wouldn't know which one though. Pick 1-4 I'm of course 100% clueless on.

I hope you geniuses who contribute so much great stuff to this site find a way to attract more web traffic and visitors who decide to register and post their madness to counter our madness. I realize I can't talk since I post so little anymore, but tap-repeatedly really does need to be seen (and appreciated) by a great number of gamers (and crazy people like me).
Images 4, 5, and 6 are the hardest ones, because they're all somewhat obscure games. 1, 2, and 3 should be easier to guess, though it's hard to see things when you've only got two colors. That they're clear as a bell to me may have something to do with the fact that I assembled the image. 🙂
Here's some more clues:
4. More along the lines of dungeon keeper
5. Right era... an RPG from ancient times
6. It is NOT an RTS. And it's the only game I can think of where you could get eaten by a Space Tiger.

Okay Steerpike. I see you.
Right, I've got 1,3 and 6. The 4th picture looks like a skating game, but I'm not sure. The 2nd image has 'drinks machine and deserted subway' text in it if that makes any sense to anyone? And the 5th looks old, man. Old.
What were the last Rorschach images of? You fiend.
HA! I thought the first image was Gears of War. Honestly!
It's funny you mention Startopia because I was reading about that over the weekend and it's a game I really must check out. It looks awesome and I'm disappointed I missed it when it came out.
The Viva Piñata one is obvious now you've mentioned it but The Ring image? Pah!

Wow, I don't know if I've stumbled across some wonderful synchronicity, or if Steerpike and I frequent the same 'Remember This' column by David Wildgoose - but he just posted the picture for #5 to see who can guess it, and people have already posted their answers.
Any bids for the answer? [Image Can Not Be Found]
