Prison Architect, Borderlands 2 and XCOM are in there but the rest I... I don't know. One looks like Dark Souls (the aqueduct) but to be honest that tunnel isn't wide enough for that.

#2 is Dishonored, obviously. I (think) I know #4, and it's killing me. #9 looks like Bono inserted into Doom.

1) Looks like a rugby/football game, possibly even something gladiatorial or war-related. Pffft, I don't know.

2) Dishonored

3) Fade to Black (nice catch Botch! There's no mistaking that cover)

4) Saints Row: The Third

5) ?

6) ?

7) Okay, so I originally wrote: "Ghost in the Shell? System Shock? No, it's neither of those. God, I recognise that image..." and then it hit me:

You're a sly dog Sakey.

8) It can only be the beautiful Proteus

9) It looks like a Double Dragon but it's too clear to be one of the older games.

Yeah, Fade to Black is burned into my unconscious.

#9 Gordon Freeman in a 2D brawler?  Him or Elvis Costello.

#6 reminds me of one of those turn based strategy games like Heroes of M&M series or ... darn...what was that other well known series?  Maybe Age of Wonders or one of the Warlords games?

It is a turn based strategy, but an obscure one. Think... early nineties, maybe? Mid-nineties.

I was totally stumped on all of these, but I do think Geggis is quite correct about #7.  Something from the manual, I'd wager...

BUT, owing to the fact that the gauntlet has been thrown, and I've been reading Ready Player One this week, I will find #6.  I normally would limit myself to what I know, but I cannot in good conscience allow Steerpike to win this!

GOOGLE!  ENGAGE!

Don't be lured into his games Dix! It happened to me yes, and I claimed the only prize Steerpike relinquished with this contest, but 't was a dark and troubled route to such bounty. I even had to enlist Game Screen Investigation (GSI) to help at one point (read from page one through to the end of page two-three for the full saga. GSI cracked the following banner contest, not the one I was apparently having trouble with at the beginning.

Image 7 is

from the intro at about 2:12:

Ugh, I forgot there even was an intro...has been too long since I played that game.  Though there is a bit of synchronicity to this, as yesterday morning the theme song by Yes popped up on shuffle on my iPod.

MAYBE #6 HAS A THEME SONG ON MY IPOD.  *runs off*

Okay, God dammit.

1) Gregg, you wound me. I am wounded. I made it clear that this "contest" was meant to be a sham, that my banners would be so incomprehensible that no one would ever decipher them. My intention was not to give things away, my intention was to create the impression that I would give things away. But you... YOU. You ruined my contest!

2) Dix, my man, engage Google! Think of the psychic rewards you'll enjoy (actual rewards were suspended after Gregg ruined my contest) if you discover the truth of #6... WHICH YOU WILL NOT

Yeah, Google didn't help much.  But it's not over yet.

Also, do we know #5?  It's not familiar to me, but (hair notwithstanding) it reminds me a little of something from Hellblazer.

Well done, Dix. How you managed that is beyond me. Now I have to destroy you, etc etc.

I don't know how he managed that either...obviously Dix has ninja skills.  Dark Wizard.....really?!?  Hah, never even heard of that game.
