This has nothing to do with the site changes happening, I’m just tired of logging in every time I come to the forums so I’m reaching out: does anyone have any tips as to how on earth I can stay PERMANENTLY logged into the site/word press? The ‘remember me’ option has never worked for me.
I’m just wondering if it does for anyone else. Or if you have some other trick. Like indentured robot servants.

Xtal, this has been a frustration of mine since WordPress 2.0. I wish I had a solution, but the system seems to really like logging people out. Some solutions have been suggested, involving doing dirty things to some of the WP config files. I’ll make it a priority.

The Tap site uses a cookie to remember login. I just checked and it says the cookie expires at the end of a session, which I tested and it seems to mean once you exit your browser. Sure enough, I logged in, quit FF, restarted, and found i wasn’t logged in.
While I can manually set the browser to clear cookies when I exit, I don’t think you can force the browser to keep them past when they expire. You may be able to configure WP to set a cookie with a future expiry date like most websites do.

What’s funny is it remembers my name and password, it’s not like I have to re-type it; it just makes me click “log in” every time I want to post etc.
I guess I’ve become pretty whiny since the 33.6 era became a distant memory (I never had a 56k, went from 28 to 33.6 to high speed!). That the extra 8 seconds it takes to click log in > main site again > back to forums annoys me … well it’s silly but that’s us modern internets folk!
Make not a priority of it, Steerpike; I was looking to see really if anyone had a MacGuyver-type fix. No worries.

Well I did some Googling and at least it’s not something specifically broken with our site, it seems to be something that WordPress has had going on since like 2.6. With what Helmut found and with more rummaging in the site’s nethers, I should be able to fix it. Stay with the tuned.
