... is a lot of work. I have a new respect for people who labor away at publishing companies.
I just uploaded my novel, Finding Miranda onto Amazon (those bastards). It's sort of an updated Hardy Boy adventure with sex, drugs and rock and roll, set in present day Portland, OR.

All you guys with e-readers, this will eventually be out on iBook, Barnes and Noble, Sony and some places I've never heard of. But it's available on Amazon now. I think iPads and Androids can read Kindle stuff these days. And there is always Calibre if you are cheap like me and don't have a tablet yet. (I'll probably get the new iPad eventually. Have tested a bunch of them and it's the one.)
If you like the book, feel free to post a review on Amazon. If you don't like it forget you ever read this. Pretend you had a headache. If you just want to buy it and never read it, please do. I get $2.09 either way.

Congrats on the release of your "baby."
Now you are 209/49900 of the way towards an iPad. Which you'll need to continue our long-delayed play-through (when was that? sooo many years ago, I finished BGI, never II...did you?) of Baldur's Gate II when the ios EE version is released (god willing) this summer.
Thanks guys. Hope you enjoy.
Yapette, I did finish the original BG, though not without much griping and bitching and finally just plain old cheating to get past the end game. I'm pretty sure we were playing it on Bollocks together way back when with Finkbug cheering everyone on from the sidelines. I started BG2 once but never got past the starter dungeon before something all bright and shiny caught my attention. All I hope for for BG2 is that they have gotten rid of that "gather your party" nag line for when you try to enter another map without your party on the same screen. Also I hope you finally heal that hand of yours. Though if they make it "all swishy and smooth" maybe you can just kind of wave your hand in the game's general direction. The EE is the one with the updated graphics, right? Or as updated as BG is going to get.

Hey ScoutWay to go. I am glad to hear it will be out for the Barnes & Noble Nook since that is what I have. When it is out, I will get it. I look forward to reading it since I have always said, "You are a very good writer."
Kay
Kay, it's listed at Barnes & Noble now.
Thanks Steerpike. Thanks kay.
I just read this last night and liked it a lot. You have your protagonist doing stupid shit that usually pisses me off because nobody would be that dumb in real life, but in this case it's excused because our hero is a kid. That was a brilliant move on your part—it totally works! You are great at character development. Your people all seemed real. I also liked that there were very few errors in the text; many of the indie books are so rife with them as to be unreadable. I was engrossed from start to finish, and I will read anything by you.

Trying to get this quote system to work but can't type outside the quote box. Ugh. At least I can post again. I think. Anyway, Jen, would you mind copy and pasting your post as a review on Amazon. That's a great comment you made about using a kid as the protagonist to propel a mystery plot. It hadn't even occurred to me until now. Doh.
Glad you didn't pick up too many typos. I had a copy editor sift through it before submitting it. Talk about humbling... red ink all over the document. I suck at correct grammar.
Hi Scout,
Congratulations on becoming a published author! Your book sounds great, one of these days I'll break down and buy a Kindle. I've resisted for a while now, but more and more authors are coming out with books solely on the e-book format. You guys/gals are forcing me to take the plunge. <glub> <glub> <glub>
Hey lakerz! As far as getting a Kindle, you might want to look at a Fire. I had a Kindle Touch for a couple of weeks, a loaner from a friend and honestly, I didn't like it. Maybe I just expect anything with a screen to go fast in 2012. The Touch was so pokey and slow. You can't even browse Amazon decently. I realized I wouldn't be happy with anything less than a tablet. A Fire, a Nook, an iPad, possibly a Transformer. At the very least.
Thanks geggis. Buy the ticket, take the ride, as Hunter Thompson wrote.Think of it as a personalized tour of Portland, Oregon through scout's chemically scarred brain.
I thought I was one of the only people left who didn't have an e-reader but sounds like I'm in good company here.
You can get some free readers for the PC or mac but frankly, who wants to read 300 pages of text at a computer?
Hi Scout, I was thinking of just buying the regular kindle since it was cheaper and also because I read that it was the better choice for reading. I think the writer said it put out crisper fonts with the perfect amount of back lighting or whatever compared to the fire. Goes without saying the Fire does a lot of things a regular Kindle can't though. I still have time to decide since I probably won't buy one until late this year or next year perhaps. I still am fond of holding a book in my hands while reading.
Honestly, Lakerz? I'd take a pass on the Kindle Fire if I were you. It was NOT ready for prime time when it shipped. Yes, it's a nice device and being a (limited) Android tablet gives it flexibility, but it crashes every nine seconds, it's slow to respond to touch commands, its screen is inherently worse for reading than original Kindle's e-Ink, and it's heavier than I'd love. Do I regret my purchase? No, but if you want to use the device to read books and nothing else, the original Kindle is a fantastic piece of tech. The Fire is a very broken piece of tech that will likely work better in its second revision.
Life is the misery we endure between disappointments.
I guess I'm in the minority when it comes to e-Ink. To me it looks a bit like a photocopy of a book on a dark screen but I know millions of people wouldn't agree with that sentiment. Definitely take it for a test drive if you can, lakerz. Read a whole book on one if possible and see what your experience is.
Sorry to hear the Fire is so not-ready. Me, I know I'm going to want a device that I can do more than just read with. I'm thinking refurbished Ipad or maybe a Nook. I'm already out of the loop though.
And yeah, I still prefer a paper book but I'm old.
