I can't log out of Tap.  Not from the Members link at the top/left of all pages.  Not from the "logout" option at the top/right of each forum page.  And not from the Dashboard strip at the bottom of my browser's toolbar.  If I go away for about 30 minutes and come back I am logged out, but I can't do it manually.

Not a big problem, but a glitch nonetheless.  Just sayin'.

That's nothing. I have ghost posts to be viewed.

I no longer seem to have a log out problem.  Thanks to the web magicians.

We have installed a new caching system that may be responsible for problems like this. Normally I'd turn it off, but we're experiencing unusually heavy traffic and our host was... insistent that we employ caching software so as to stop crashing their server. Please keep me apprised of such problems so I can fail to fix them in a more timely manner.

Spike, what specifically was happening when you tried to log out? Not that I can imagine anyone wanting to log out of Tap...

I'm not Spike, but I do have a serious question:

Why does the unread posts indicator update (or reset depending how you look at it) itself whenever I add a post? It's rather annoying because I can't always remember what was unread by the time I've finished a post.

And I do have ghost posts - the unread posts will continue to list unread posts even though I've read them all (unless I've created a post in which case all bets are off). Could it be it still thinks I should be reading the staff board?

Toger, I think this is more an issue with our forum software than anything specifically wrong with the site. Had I known then what I know now I would have gone with PHPbb instead of Simple:Press, which has its share of quirks and idiosyncrasies. Once the tech goblins and I figure out how to switch to a new forum while retaining old posts, this problem might solve itself.

The ghost posts are likely the result of the caching software, though. Is anyone else having this problem?

When I'd try to log out via the Members link just below the banner (Members, Content, Follow, Staff, FFC Memorial....), or from the bar at the top of my window (user name w/ options, one of which is Log Out and Shortlink on the left and Search option on the right)  I'd get the "Do you really want to log out?" page.  If I clicked on "Log out" from either of those places I'd still be logged in, and could do all those things that we need to be logged in to do.

And I'd stay logged in when I attempted to logout from the "Logout"  button in the area that contains the Inbox, Watch and Subscribe icons.

But the logout feature seems to be working just fine today.

Oh, and no ghost posts for me.

we're experiencing unusually heavy traffic

I like the sound of that!
