It’s that time of the year folks where Joel Goodwin of Electron Dance and I embark on our annual local multiplayer adventures with Side by Side.
In the first episode we take a look at SplitSide Games’ Fling to the Finish, a zany duo-tethered racing platformer currently in development following a successful Kickstarter back in June.
Now, I don’t like playing early development builds but the alpha demo feels remarkably polished and fun already. The game is due for release next year on PC and Nintendo Switch and will feature solo play, local co-op and competitive multiplayer for up to 4 players, and online for up to 16! Sixteen. That’s a lot of tethered balls.
I cannot wait to see where SplitSide take this. You can check out the alpha demo right here.

That game looks like the most polished “alpha” ever invented, and it seems like a joy to play.
I’m so glad you guys are back. Watching Side by Side makes my week!
Yeah seriously! As I said to Joel on Twitter after he’d put the episode together:
“I just quickly fired this up to see how solo play works and… wow. Left ball, left thumbstick. Right ball, right thumbstick. All those obstacles we made light work of in co-op are a nightmare on your own! PvP would have been crazy.”
A bit like Brothers, only, with balls. Fling: A Tale of Two Balls.
Anyway, plenty more to come Matt! 🙂
